CEDAR CREEK CONSULTING
Pond and Wetland Consulting
There's a lot of information available to get you started on your pond project. If you want to do the research and invest the time and effort (and make a few mistakes along the way!) you too can be a pond expert! None of the references listed will replace the expertise that a good pond consultant and a good contractor bring to the project, but they are a great place to start.
Hard Copy Information
Ponds - Planning, Design, Construction
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service
Washington DC, 20250.
Ask for: Agriculture Handbook Number 500
This is a great booklet! It covers primarily pond building and is *the* resource for that information. It was out of print for some time and poor quality photocopies were floating around in the pond building community. Anyone that had an original copy would not loan it out! It was revised in 1997 and reprinted. Write or call the USDA for a copy. I'm not sure of the price - It may be free for the asking at your local USDA office.
Managing Michigan Ponds for Sport Fishing
Michigan State University Extension
East Lansing MI 48824
Ask for: Bulletin E-1554
This is another great booklet! It covers primarily fish management in ponds and it is a great resource for that information. It has small sections on pond building and other area of pond management . The price is $3.50 plus shipping.
